If I could pick just one way to shoot, just for me, for the rest of my career it would be like this. It doesn’t work very well for portrait or wedding work. Not too many brides would like a gritty black and white image of their special day! I do feel it can really bring out what you are trying to say in an image. I like the abstract focus and the square format works really well for me. These were shot with the iPhone 4s, using the Hipstamatic app. They just released the “tintype” lens and film to go with it. I absolutely love the look, reminds me of old Civil War images. Cool stuff.
Seven years. Seven years ago, today, I started the Image of the Day, at www.photoomaha.com. Kind of crazy to have been able to keep up with this for as long as I have. Is it time to do something different, would you, like to see anything different with photoomaha.com? If you have been along for the ride, Thank You. The very first image posted is below, the state capital in Lincoln. The day that I shot this was pretty cool. I was able to have an interview with Tom Osborne and a brief moment for a photo session with him in the capital building. He was running for governor at the time. Just like you hear all the time, he was incredibly polite and very sincere.
